Cooper River Bridge Run 2013

I was super fortunate this weekend to grab a spot as a photographer on the press truck for the 2013 Cooper River Bridge Run 10K, and I had a blast getting to witness the lead pack of runners, as opposed to last year when I “ran” the race, starting in the last corral at the very back of the pack. We won’t get into how long it took me to finish the race last year, but this year the race was won in 28:05 by Simon Ndirangu of Kenya, who broke away from the pack about mid-way up the span of the bridge, finishing 33 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The women’s race was won by Hiwott Ayalew, of Ethiopia, in a time of 32:18. Below are some of my favorite images of the race, followed by a collection of more images of the day. If you ran the race this year, and “got over it” (the bridge, that is) good for you!!
